Do you know this? You need something to write with quickly and once again the pens are nowhere to be found. Or you can only find one pen, but not the other one that you would have preferred? This case keeps your favourite pens together in a practical little case. The case fits in any bag, is very handy and also looks pretty. It is a popular gift among my friends.

The case is knitted in one piece using the double knitting technique. Only the flap holder for the clasp is knitted separately and sewn on later. These instructions describe two versions of the case. Variant 1 is a simple straight case that can be knitted without increases and decreases and variant 2 is a case with curves at the bottom and on the flap, which are created by increasing (bottom edge) and decreasing (flap).

Anyone who has a little experience with double knitting knows that hollow spaces are created between the two sides of the work. In this case, the hollow spaces are used as pen compartments. To do this, one side of the work is casted off and new stitches are picked up directly for the inside of the lid.

This case for two pens is a nice little project for the weekend. Ideal for using up leftover wool. Knitting this case is great fun as it uses the properties of double knitting in a different way. The case makes a lovely gift for a loved one. But why don’t you just knit it for yourself? Have fun!
