Pearl, a vintage bonnet for the modern child. The perfect heirloom Bonnet to pass down the generations. I can see a Pearl Bonnet mounted in a shadow box frame next to photos of a parent as a baby and then their own child wearing it.
Designed in Australia by Mel Harrison of Pixie Noggins™.
Instructions for 5 sizes.
Sizes:
Size is determined by your hook size please refer to gauge swatch information.
Head circumference up to 37cm
Finished bonnet is approximately 14cm high measured at the centre.14cm wide across the middle.
Head circumference up to 39cm
Finished bonnet is approx. 15cm high measured in the centre, 15cm wide across the middle.
Head circumference 40-42cm
Finished bonnet is approximately 16cm high measured in the centre, 16cm wide across the middle.
Head circumference 43-45cm
Finished bonnet is approximately 18cm high measured in the centre, 18cm wide across the middle.
Head circumference up to 52cm
Finished bonnet is approximately 19cm high measured in the centre, 19cm wide across the middle
Fit: : Pearl Bonnets are made to be a fitted style. The ages and head sizes given are an indication only, if your child is smaller or larger than the average child in their age range please make the next size up or down. Crochet by nature creates an ‘elastic’ garment so you may find your Bonnet fits for longer than the age ranges/head sizes given.
Yarn: 8ply/DK weight yarn of cotton, merino or a soft blend.
Approx. 75-105m
Suggested brands: Bendigo Woollen Mill cotton, cleckheaton superfine or Mahogany Turtle 8ply Merino.
Hook: Hook size will be determined by your gauge test swatch. Size up or down to achieve the correct gauge for your yarn and chosen size.
Supplies: yarn needle, button 15-18mm
Intermediate level pattern, American terminology. You will need knowledge of basic crochet stitches:
Dc: Double crochet
Hdc: Half double crochet
Sc: Single Crochet
Ch: chain
Skp: Skip stitch
Ss: Slip stitch
Dc2tog: Double crochet 2 together to decrease.
