This space-themed pullover will be just the thing to spark your budding astronomer’s imagination. This sweater is knit in the round from the bottom up, using an adaptation of the Elizabeth Zimmerman Percentage system for round-yoked pullovers. The sleeves are knit separately and joined to the body, to make the circular yoke, which is knit in the round as well. The sun’s rays are done in fair-isle and encircle the neck. The planets are embroidered and appliqueed after the knitting is completed.

NOTE: An error in the pattern was found on Nov 16, 2010: In the short rows worked at the neck, the instructions for “knit” rows and “purl” rows were reversed. The entire short row section should be worked in stockinette. The pattern has been updated, so all versions purchased after Nov 16 are accurate.
