The sun may be out and summer is in full swing but I’m sure a little bit of cheeky garter stitch can tempt your needles to start clicking again. Garter and cables - what’s not to love …

I simply can’t get enough of this fabulous cable pattern. It is so fun to knit and the cables are easy to do with, or without a cable needle.

Inspired by Orange Blossom Oolong Tea from Pekoe Tea in Edinburgh

“Orange Blossom Oolong is a blend of oolong teas from Taiwan. This loose leaf tea is combined with orange peel and natural flavours, giving it a light, airy character with delicate orange flavor. This is an excellent beverage with morning toast and marmalade.”

Materials

Ginger’s Hand Dyed Kent DK (dk; 100% Kent Romney Wool; 200m / 219yd per 100g skein)
Shade: Orange Blossom; 1 x 100g skein

3.5mm / US 4 circular needle 40cm / 16in length (or 80cm / 32in length for magic loop)
4mm / US 6 circular needle 40cm / 16in length (or 80cm / 32in length for magic loop)
4mm / US 6 set of DPNs for crown decreases, or longer circular needle for magic loop

4 (4, 5) stitch markers (optional, to mark pattern repeats)
You may find it helpful to have one different coloured stitch marker to mark the start of your rnd.

Gauge

Always use the needle size that enables you to match the specified gauge.

24 sts and 40 rnds over 10cm / 4in of Garter Rib worked in the rnd and blocked, using 3.5mm / US 4 needles

23 sts and 36 rnds over 10cm / 4in of Garter Cable worked in the rnd and blocked, using 4mm / US 6 needles
