O Pato Mittens

Colorwork mittens with liners for versatility. Both mittens and liners are worked from cuffs up to finger tips. Liner has index finger to make it convenient to use fingers when wearing with liners only.
Size One size, length can be modified.
- Shell - 16” / 40.5 cm around x 10” / 25.5 cm tall
- Liner - 15 ½” / 39.5 cm around x 11” / 24.5 cm tall
Yarn
- Shell - Worsted Weight Yarn, sample used Elann Peruvian Worsted
- Other recommended yarn: Knit Picks Wools of Andes, Ella Rae Classic Wool, Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride, Harrisville Highland
- MC: 180 yards / 165 meters, CC-1: 100 yards / 90 meters , CC-2: 50 yards / 45 meters
- Liner - Fingering Weight Yarn, sample used Elann Sock It To Me
- Other recommended yarn: Elann Wagga Wagga Sock, Knit Picks Stroll, Harrisville Shetland, Rosy Green Wool Merino d’Arles
- MC: 220 yards / 200 meters, CC: 40 yards /35 meters
Needles
- Shell - Large Needle: US 5 / 3.75 mm or change needle size to obtain gauge.
- Medium Needle: One size smaller than Large needle to work cuffs.
- Liner - Small Needle: US 1 / 2.25 mm or change needle size to obtain gauge.
Gauge
- Shell - (Worsted Weight), using Large Needle: 24 sts x 26 rows = 4 x 4 inches / 10 x 10 cm
- Liner - (Fingering Weight), using Small Needle: 28 sts x 38 rows = 4 x 4 inches / 10 x 10 cm
Design
- Set of mittens include Shells and Liner.
- Using thicker (worsted) yarn for Shell, and thinner (fingering) yarn for Liner.
- Fairisle colorwork on Shell.
- Full colorwork chart for mitten Shell that includes Thumb increases.
- Liner is longer at the cuff end with decoratvie colorwork to contrast with the colorwork on Shell.
- Liner includes index finger to make hand action more convenient when wearing only Liners.
