A seamless, open front, cable and lace motif cardigan. The sweater is knitted seamlessly from top down in one piece.
Note: the sample sweater is knitted straight with no shaping from chest down. Slight A-line shaping was created during blocking.
Sizes
- 31 (35, 38, 41, 44, 48, 51).
- Sizes based on chest measurements of finished sweater.
- 1 to 4 inches / 2.5 to 10 cm positive ease recommended. Sample shown in size 41 with 3” / 7.5 cm positive ease.
Yarn
- Worsted weight yarn.
- Sample knitted in Malabrigo Rios, (100% Superwash Merino Wool, 210 yards / 192 meters per 100 gram skein), color English Rose.
- 1060 (1260, 1360, 1470, 1640, 1760, 1980) yards / 970 (1155, 1242, 1345, 1500, 1610, 1810) meters.
Gauge
- 22 sts x 27 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm in Chart A cable stitches (stitches within red box repeat) stitch after blocking.
- 17 sts x 25 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm in Stockinette stitch after blocking.
Notions 4 markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn, optional buttons.
Design
- Seamless, raglan style cardigan knitted top down in one piece.
- Cable and lace motifs on neck, body, and cuffs.
- Neckband continues into front band and is about 3 ¾” / 9 cm tall after blocking.
Construction
- Use provisional cast on, work neck band first.
- Pick up and knit stitches along the selvedge of neckband to join the live stitches of neck band.
- Work to underarm flat in one piece. Put sleeve sts on waste yarn.
- Continue to work flat in one piece to hem. Work sleeves in round to cuff.

- Written instructions for chart are included.
