The Nourish shawl completes a trio of patterns Dawn Henderson created for Little Skein’s Beatrix Box knitting kit subscription series, named for the Victorian artist and author Beatrix Potter.

The shawl has a playful basketweave texture and impish crossed cables and it captures the spirit and meaning of the Beatrix Box: reminders to play, a deep love of home and hearth, and the wonder and delight of simple things. A carrot enjoyed by a rabbit. The warm embrace of a mother. The things that nourish us, especially in difficult times.

  • Nourish is a triangular shawl, knit from the top down.
  • It starts with a garter tab and increases by 4 stitches on every right side row.
  • The shawl’s texture is created with easy-to-work 2x2 cables, and we’ve created a tutorial to show you how to work the cables without a cable needle if you’re feeling adventurous.
  • The edging of the shawl is started when you have approximately 50g remaining of your available yarn, making this an easy project to adapt to whatever two skeins of yarn you have available.
  • The edging features garter ridges and bobbles, and finishes with adorable mini-tassels for an extra bit of whimsy.
