Carrots & Radishes socks
These happy, textured socks and hat are inspired by artist and author Beatrix Potter.
Knit in hand-dyed colorways drawn from The Tale of Peter Rabbit, the hat and socks have a playful basketweave punctuated by impish crossed cables. The texture is at once a nod to both Mrs. Rabbit and to Peter—and how he mischievously fails to heed her advice to stay out of Mr. McGregor’s garden. The socks have a lovely contrast cuff with miniature cottontail bobbles, just like Peter’s tail as he runs off.
The sock and hat duo make the most of two skeins of my Targhee Sock base which is a wonderfully wooly yarn yet soft to the touch, and it makes a slightly rustic, matte, and wooly hat with lots of body and bounce.
The Carrots and Radishes socks are enjoyable to knit, playful in design, and makes a pair of socks that don’t take themselves too seriously. They’re gender-neutral, simple enough for grown-ups and playful enough for children (or your inner child!).
