You know that item of clothing or accessory that you instantly reach for the minute it gets cold? The one you throw in your bag “just in case” or for an extra layer in case you are staying out late. I had a hat. It was my go-to every time, and yet it was a mass-produced, machine-made item manufactured in China that I bought from a chain store nearly 10
years ago. After I started knitting people would ask if I made my hat and I would begrudgingly admit “No…I bought it”.

A few weeks ago I got the same question, and after I gave my usual “No”, I thought to myself, “I’m sure I could design a hat based on my store-bought one using elements that I love and adding my own flair”.

The challenge was set and I am proud to present My Fave Hat. My hope is that it will become your go-to accessory, and when people admire it and ask if you made it you can reply “Why yes I did!” with a satisfied smile.
