Tipu Pullover
Knotions pattern page: Tipu Pullover
Tipu means “to grow” in Maori – one of the languages spoken in my country (New Zealand). The Tipu sweater received its name for several reasons. First, it was designed to be worn in the transitioning seasons, such as Spring, when you still want to wear knitted garments to fight any lingering chill, but the weather is warming up. Spring is the season associated with new growth.
Second, the sleeve and hem detailing have gentle waves that remind me of tulip silhouettes.
Lastly, and most significant for myself, I am currently growing as I am expecting a baby! The raglan style and knitted rounds have been a perfect project to work on, while the sleeves add enough interest to the sweater to keep it interesting!
