The Backstory:
Recently some people have written some trolly things to me like “your bind off looks really tight” or “just another guy trying to bank off the knitting community”, and honestly it’s a bit disappointing.
When I see these comments or messages come in, I immediately block, dissociate, and work hard to continue doing what I want to do. But hard as I might try to ignore this negativity, it can get to me at times, and this design started with me responding to the tight bind off comment.
I was playing around with a new cast on and bind off edge. I wanted something structured, rolled, and mocking an Icord. I know it may already have been done, but I’m a little thick headed and prefer to just “invent” my own way.
To innovate you have to take steps or make choices that may be questionable to others.
This is knitting. There may be industry standards or social norms, but stylistic choices are intended to be uniquely yours. If I were to dull my personal choices down in my patterns, I would be doing a disservice to the community.
So be a smart knitter, keep your opinions to yourself unless we are sharing, and let’s all knit along!
