Mix & Match Cowls
This pattern includes 5 individual designs for simple, modern crochet cowls.
You can also use the stitch patterns to come up with your own combination of stitches, creating cowls that are unique to you!
The cowls are all made using fingering/sock weight yarn with a 3mm hook, or 3.5mm if adding mohair held with the main yarn.
The amount of yarn you need depends on the cowl you make, but these patterns are perfect for stash busting.
This pattern is written in UK terms only at the moment but I do plan on releasing US terms too. Let me know if you’re super keen and I will bump it higher up the list of things to do!
Yarn Recommendations
All of the cowl designs use sock/fingering weight yarn.
Some of the yarns I used are:
The Little Grey Girl, high-twist sock: 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon, (100g/365m/ 400yds).
Loom Wool, twist sock: 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon, (20g/75m/82yds).
Emma’s Yarn, Practically Perfect Sock: 80% superwash merino/ 20% nylon, 100g/365m/400 yds).
Fruitful Fusion, merino nylon sock: 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon, (100g/425m/465yds).
Cascade Heritage: 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon, (100g/400m/437yds).
Other sock-weight (and some 4ply) yarns will work for these cowls but could affect the gauge and amounts required.
Tension (blocked)
10cm / 4in measures approximately 18 rows & 23 stitches.
Perfect tension isn’t essential for a cowl but it will affect the amount of yarn used.
