This design is my contribution to the second edition of Indian Designer Collaboration(indesco) - Monsoon Memoirs Sep 2020.

Minnal, pronounced Min-Null, means lightning in my native language Tamil. It is a textured scarf inspired by the monsoon season in India. A rainy day interspersed with lightning and thunder is very common during this season. The textured parts of this scarf depict the stormy clouds. Then a streak of lightning changes the direction of the scarf, along with rain, which is worked in the lacy parts. Made in storm colours, Minnal is a lightweight scarf made with DK weight yarn. It will be a warm accessory for a cool and rainy evening.

The scarf is made of simple stitches, with a unique construction worked in three parts. The textured part is to depict the fluffy clouds, the yellow streak is the lightning and the lacy part is the falling rain. Once the textured part is completed, the scarf is turned 90 degrees and worked horizontally until the lace portion of the scarf is completed. Then both ends of the scarf are worked to complete the scarf. The construction of this scarf along with the stitch patterns will hold the interest of the maker till the end.

The scarf uses one ball of Iceyarns Magic Light. A small amount of contrast DK yarn is used for the centre and then continued with the same yarn.
