The MEMENTO MORI sweater a.k.a “Martin-Gore-look-alike-sweater” is an homage to Martin Gore and Depeche Mode!
I started knitting as a teenager and at the same time a band called Depeche Mode appeared. It was about 40 years ago and I never stopped knitting or listening to there music since then …

So glad to see Martin wearing a knit sweater 24/7 - yes he actually seems to live in it and also wore it on stage during their amazing BBC Radio2 performance.
There’s a lot of talking about this iconic sweater among Depeche Mode fans - so many fans want to have one … so I decided to knit a sweater inspired by Martin´s and write the pattern.
I knit the sweater for my son who did not only see Depeche Mode back in 2019 at Waldbühne Berlin but who will also join me for this year’s concert in July at Olympiastadion Berlin.

The unisex pattern is written for a size M with a bust circumference of 120 cm / 48 inches and has very detailed instructions on how to adapt it to your personal measurements.
For the given size you will need appr. 625 m/609 yards black yarn plus 460 m/500 yards purple yarn in DK weight.

So whoever wants to knit a sweater and look like Martin can do so ! Very excited to see if some “Martin-Gore-look-alike-sweaters” will pop-up !

Der MEMENTO MORI sweater - oder auch “Martin-Gore-look-alike-sweater” ist eine Homage an Martin Gore und Depeche Mode!
Als Teenager habe ich angefangen zu stricken, ungefähr zu dieser Zeit erschienen die ersten Singles von Depeche Mode … das war vor ungefähr vierzig Jahren - und ich habe nie aufgehört zu stricken oder deren wunderbare Musik zu hören !
Ganz besonders erfreut bin ich, Martin Gore in einem gestrickten Pulli zu sehen, den er offensichtlich rund um die Uhr trägt - sogar auf der Bühne beim wunderbaren Auftritt bei BBC Radio2 …
In der Depeche Mode Szene wird sehr viel über den Pulli diskutiert … so dass ich mich entschieden habe, einen Pulli inspiriert von Martins zu stricken und die Anleitung zu schreiben.
Gestrickt habe ich den Pulli für meinen Sohn, der die Band bereits 2019 in der Berliner Waldbühne erlauben durfte und mich auch in diesem Jahr ins Berliner Olympiastadion begleitet.
Diese unisex Anleitung ist für die Größe M mit einem Brustumfang von 120 cm beschrieben und enthält sehr detaillierte Informationen, wie man die Anleitung an seine persönlichen Maße anpasst.
Für die angegebene Größe braucht man ca. 625 m schwarzes Garn und ca. 460 m lilafarbenes Garn der Stärke “DK weight”.
