The bold and bright colorwork section along with the matching fake fur pompom make MEANDER the perfect slouchy hat for dreary winter days.

It is made from a soft 100% merino wool and the turn-up as well as the thick colorwork fabric will guarantee warm ears all day long. That is why this is my favourite hat for the colder days.

One size that can be knitted in two different gauges resulting in two versions:
Version 1 - smaller gauge, pictured in pink / red
Version 2 - larger gauge, pictured in anthracite / turquoise.

2 skeins of Wolle Rödel Soft Merino Superwash (50g, 100m/110yds) in color 051 (pink) or 018 (anthracite)
Contrast color
1 skein of Wolle Rödel Strumpfwolle Color Fashion Superwash (50g, 100m/110yds) in color 005 (red) or 020 (turquoise)

GAUGE
Version 1
24 sts and 25 rounds = 10cm / 4” in colorwork pattern
38 sts and 34 rounds = 10cm / 4” in 2x2 rib
Version 2
21 sts and 23 rounds = 10cm / 4” in colorwork pattern
32 sts and 28 rounds = 10cm / 4” in 2x2 rib
Measured after blocking without stretching the fabric; the purl stitches of the rib are included in the given amount of stitches, even if they are not visible when the fabric is laying down on a flat surface.

NEEDLES
Version 1
You will need two 3mm and one 4mm (or size to obtain gauge with) circular needles or two sets of DPNs in same size.
Version 2
You will need two 4mm and one 5mm (or size to obtain gauge with) circular needles or two sets of DPNs in same size.

TOOLS
A tapestry needle for attaching the fake fur pompom and weaving in the ends. A crochet hook and scrap yarn to work the provisional cast-on. A marker for the beginning of the round.
