Soft white fluffy clouds,
Bobbing along in the gentle breeze,
Sun giving a hint of things to come,
By playing hide and seek.

The wind, taking its cues from the sun,
Hustles the clouds,
Who are meekly complying, albeit turning a darker shade in protest.

The animals scurrying for shelter.
The dry earth waiting, with open hands, to welcome the downpour.

And then it happens - A bright flash , a rumble, and tumble of the giants, as the skies open up.

Oh how wonderful it feels wrapping up in something warm with a steaming cup of tea and a book in hand, sitting and watching the falling rain.

When the Kaatru (Wind) brings the Megam (Clouds) together we have a start of the Thooral (Drizzle) that can change quickly to Saaral (Slanted rain) and when the Mazhai (Downpour) subsides we are left with the beautiful Thulir!! This was the idea that helped build up this blanket /throw. One can make as many squares as one needs and as many of their favorite individual square to make up this beauty. The sample prototype has 3 squares each of Kaatru, Thooral and Megam, 2 squares of Saaral and 4 squares of Thulir, for a total of 15 squares. The prototype measures 40” wide by 70” long after adding a border around each square and one round of border around the entire blanket. The orange color was chosen based on a suggestion by a dear friend, to make the colors of the squares pop, to evoke the idea of sunshine after the rains. The joining instruction has a chart which will help you to join as you go without cutting yarn. You will have just two ends to weave in after the border is added. The place to watch out for is the junction of four corners of the squares being joined. You could also join them individually if you do not mind the weaving in process.
