What I had in mind was a cozy, modern cardigan with some positive ease, a generous collar, made long enough to wear comfortably with ‘slim’ pants or leggings and boots. But as the design progressed, I realized a shorter version - more like a neat little riding jacket - would also look great. So, a short option is included in the pattern too. The rounded “coat tail” reminds me of a conductor’s jacket; hence the name Maestro!

It is constructed all in one piece, top-down. Other than seaming the sleeves (if you knit them flat), there are only 3 sts to graft together in the end.

Intended to fit with 1-3 inches of positive ease. The long version measures approx. 20 inches (51 cm) from the underarm to the longest point at the back, and the short version measures approx. 16 inches (41 cm).

Skills required include: provisional CO, i-cord CO and BO, short rows, picking up sts, grafting.
