Lian the Lil Red Panda
Meet Lian, a little Red Panda with a big tail. She loves how fluffy it is and spends a great deal of time taking care of it-- washing and conditioning her fur, and carefully combing out the tangles.
She can be made in any yarn and hook combination you want. Just be certain that the fabric is firm enough that stuffing does not show through.
I’ve made samples in two different sizes. The worsted weight version is made using a 4.0 mm (G) hook and Knit Picks Brava Worsted. The DK weight version is made using 2.25 mm (B) hook and Paintbox Yarn Cotton DK. You only need a small amount of each color; perfect for using up scraps!
Sample 1 (Worsted weight)
- Color 1: Paprika (35 yards)
- Color 2: Sienna (30 yards)
- Color 3: Custard ( 5 yards)
Sample 2 (DK weight)
- Color 1: Red Winel (25 yards)
- Color 2: Coffee Bean (15 yards)
- Color 3: Paper White (less than 5 yards)
Lian the Lil Red Panda is an intermediate-level pattern. Skills you will need include single crochet, double crochet, slip stitches, increases, decreases, crocheting in the back loops only, crocheting in the front loops of a finished piece, and some seaming.
The pattern is 8-pages long and has plenty of progress photos to help you along your way to making your own roly-poly red panda.
