Landskein
Landskein is a crescent shaped shawl that ripples with lace and cables, creating sinuous lines that reminds me very much of a landskein created by braided horizon lines when viewed from a distance on hazy days.

Materials
550 metres of laceweight yarn
3.75 mm / US 5 circular needle
360 size 8 seed beads
.6 mm crochet hook (for beading)

Optional Beads
I’ve added a few beads to mine, but if you’re not so inclined these are easily omitted. For those of you enamoured with nupps, I have included an alternative edge chart at the back of the pattern which replaces the beads with nupps, and identifies an optional alternative bead placement along the decrease lines.

If you choose to use beads you will require approximately 360 size 8 seed beads and a .6 mm crochet hook to attach them.

49 cm (19.3 inches) deep at centre and 212 cm (84 inches) wide at top neck edge.

Landskein is worked from the top neck edge down in laceweight yarn. You will be required to read charts to complete this pattern. Techniques used: cables, lace stitches (k2tog, ssk, sk2p, s2kp2. Some aspects of this pattern are optional, such as beads. They can be omitted altogether or replaced with nupps. A separate chart is given to direct you with this.
