Colorful layers of rock seem to dance in the evening glow. Orange, salmon, pink, and as the night falls, darker purple tones, burgundy and aubergine. Who knew that beds of rock could be so beautifully breathtaking? And so beautifully colorful? The fascinating display of strata in various colors and thicknesses, combined with an undulating terrain exert an irresistible appeal… An urge to wander and explore. The thin layers of eroded beds of rock, or laminae, are the vibrant witnesses of times long gone.
The Laminae scarf / stole is inspired by such geological marvels. Laminae grows from the center out in layers of colors. A lacy stitch pattern makes the long edges undulate as the colors shift from light to dark. At the tips, the layers radiate in starry points. Pick your favorite gradient and let the rhythm of Laminae transport you across meandering rocks!

The Laminae scarf / stole is worked with yarn held double. The pattern gives instructions to work either a scarf or stole.
