Autan
Autan is a South-East wind in the South of France. Thinking of it, it’s quite funny that I grew up in a neighborhood of the suburbs of Paris where the streets are named after winds. Working on this shawl felt like going back to my roots and at the same time departing from and building upon those. The Autan wind does not blow where I grew up. But I can relate: I visited the South of France several times. All kinds of images pop up in my mind: lush green, ocher villages on hill slopes, lavender fields, cypresses and pointy roofs, warm and eroded stones, crystalline waters, stony mountains. All a feast for the eye and the senses.
The Autan shawl is inspired by these images and combines lace, stockinette, and a variegated yarn with an unusual shawl shape. Grab your needles and let’s see where Autan brings you!
