Included as part of Point/Counterpoint Volume 3. Two designers + two yarns = inspiration through collaboration. Each designer independently created an accessory, then sent only a photo of the finished object to the other. In response, the designers used the same yarn to create a new accessory inspired by the first, thus making a set. The only limit is their creativity!

Lalibela is one of the most fascinating places I’ve ever visited. Tucked away in the highlands of Ethiopia, the town features multiple monolithic churches carved by hand out of single pieces of rock in mostly the late 12th and early 13th centuries. The churches still function today and attract many pilgrims. Various architectural styles are featured, including small arched windows.

Looking at Clare Devine’s Lambley mitts, I was particularly drawn to how the cables curved out to make room for the thumb and decided to emphasize that aspect on this hat, which is knit in the round from the bottom up. A wide variety of sizes means you’ll be able to knit one for the entire family, as Lalibela will look attractive on boys and girls, men and women.
