This is a small scarf which is intended to be light and either hang around your neck to look pretty and floaty, or to wrap around for warmth. It’s light enough to wear indoors in the winter to keep your neck warm, without it getting in the way. You can knit a wider scarf or stole by adding more pattern repeats. You can obviously knit the scarf as long as you want.
Illustrated scarf measures 20cm/8 inches wide by 110cm/43.5 inches long.
It is worked in garter stitch lace, which looks good on both sides. It would be a good pattern for anyone who wants to get started on lace with a straightforward project.
The border has a traditional Tree of Life pattern, and the centre section motifs echo the tops of the trees.
The borders are worked first, then the centre section. The pieces are either grafted or sewn together to complete the scarf.
