Fresh snow, incense, hot tears, longing, cathedral architecture, and the passage of time create the accords behind the Lachrymae Sweater, your next handmade heirloom.

CONSTRUCTION AND INSTRUCTIONS
Almost every element in the pattern is both charted and written out. Charts appear directly adjacent to all written instructions, so it makes learning to read a chart simple if that is a skill you have yet to gain. The lace in this pattern is simple and does not require advanced stitches, only yarn over, ssk, k2tog, and CDD. Lace is only worked on every other row with plain knit rows between.

Sweater uses my classic drop sleeve construction. The front and back are knit flat, separately to the underarm, then the remainder of the body is knit in the round. There is no short row shaping. Sleeves and collar are picked up and knit in the round. All edges are adorned with 3x3 ribbing.

YARN
Glowhair by West Wool- lace weight, 25 grams, 229 yards, 64% mohair, 36% silk. Sample is knit in the colorway Morgaine.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
• US 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needles for all lace portions of the
sweater. Or, whichever size needle you need to get gauge. Choose a
circular needle length that you find comfortable to knit your size in
the round. Change lengths as needed. (I used 24” (61 cm) for the
body and 16” (40.5 cm) for the sleeves.)
• US 6 (4 mm) circular needles for ribbed hem, cuffs, and collar, or a
needle two sizes smaller than whichever needle you got gauge with
for the lace.
• Ring stitch marker.
