la solitudine dei numeri primi
(…) You encounter increasingly isolated primes, lost in that silent, measured space made only of numbers, and you become aware of the distressing sense that the pairs encountered up until that point were accidental, that solitude is the true destiny. Then, just when you’re about to surrender, when you no longer have any desire to go on counting, you come across another pair of twins, clutching each other tightly.
Paolo Giordano, The solitude of prime numbers, 2008
inspired by this book, this (actual!) infinity cowl is a quirky and rather conceptual little piece that can be worn in many ways or - if you prefer - used as a textile hanging on a wall!
it’s conceived as a narrow and very long strip knitted in sections of brioche stitch separated by subtly textured mathematical stripes, but it’s totally open to personal interpretation about yarn, gauge and final dimensions.
given its inherent meaning, of course, the longer the better - the only limits are yarn, will and time available.
because, we know it: numbers, primes and twins are endless…
