Apply this method of double knit buttonband to any crewneck or v-neck cardigan.
You might need a couple extra circular needles and a crochet hook to get started, but a little fussing at the beginning is worth it!
When you work a double knit buttonband at the same time as your cardigan, it’s so satisfying--and neat! It takes away some of the mystery (and worry) about fit because you’re not knitting an entire sweater before doing the finishing. With this top-down method, when you finish the hem and cuffs, you’re done.
I look forward to hearing the experiences of others who try this. And please let me know if you have any questions as you go…

Whoops! I forgot to say at the end of page 2 to work to the last 14 sts.
Whoops! I also forgot to suggest the stitches in between the two buttonband stitches should be an odd number if doing 1x1 ribbing so that each side mirrors the other with either a knit or purl stitch adjacent to the buttonband.
