Thanks for checking out the Indecisive shawl! You might be wondering…why “Indecisive?” Well, I picked that name because it took me a very long time to decide on a name. Also, the textured lines just can’t seem to make up their mind and keep switching direction.

This large shawl / scarf hybrid is a relaxing knit composed of garter, slipped, and crossed stitches to create playful textured lines. Because the shawl has a garter base, it’s a super relaxing project that knits up pretty fast.

Here’s a quick summary of the pattern based on the original sample:
Dimensions:
--100 in (254 cm) in length
--18 in (46 cm) wide at thickest point
Yarn Requirements:
--Around 1120 yards of fingering weight yarn
--Designed for 1 color (solid, tonal, variegated, you pick!), but feel free to mix it up
Needles:
--3.25 mm (US 3) circular needles
Gauge:
--24 sts by 48 rows = 4 in by 4 in (10 cm by 10 cm) in garter stitch after blocking lightly
Other Materials:
--stitch markers
--tapestry needle to weave in ends
Section Breakdown:
--Section A - All garter stitch
--Section B - Textured lines begin, garter section begins to diminish
--Section C - More textured lines, and more diminishing garter
--Section D - Even more textured lines, and the garter section is coming to a close
--Section E (Optional) - All garter stitch again

Disclaimer: The written instructions for this pattern may look a little intimidating, but worry not! I promise that this pattern is easier to knit than the instructions look. The complicated instructions are a product of this pattern being difficult to put into words, but in reality it is quite easy to knit. In fact, you may find yourself only needing to look at the instructions at the beginning and end of each section, once you understand how the textured lines flow. Similarly, the chart for this pattern (Sections B through E) is quite large and is spread across 3 pages. If you prefer charted instructions, I recommend printing them out and taping the pages together so it’s nice and easy to read.
