Hyve is a warm winter hat for people who want to cover their head and ears with double layers of wool against the colder climates. Hyve is worked with soft one-ply DK from Finnish sheep, creatively handdyed by Mrs Silmusolmu. It has a flat top and a double trim. Hyve is worked entirely in the round, using magic loop method, a shorter circular or dpns.

Hyve is worked bottom up. Stitches are cast on with long tail cast on method. First, the inside of the trim is knitted in stockinette. After a few purled rows, the outside of the trim is worked with an easy colourwork following a chart. The back side of the colourwork is then hidden by folding the trim. At the same time, the stitches are knitted together with the cast on edge. This gives a doubled sturdy structure which helps to keep the form of the hat while using it, and you need not to worry about the floats behind your work.

The crown decreases are worked straight after the trim with a steep construction that gives the crown an almost flat look. In the end, an I-cord bobble is added to the top of the hat if you wish so.

Alternative yarns
You can use any yarn, but this will affect the size of the shawl, your gauge and the amount of yarn needed.

Needles: US4 (3,5mm) circular needle of 80 cm or longer. You can also use a shorter circular needle or dpns.
Notions: Tapestry needle, two different markers, a row counter.

Gauge: 20 sts and 30 rows = 4 x4 inches / 10 x10 cm in stockinette st with US4 (3,5mm) needle, wet blocked.

Hyve on lämmin talvipipo niille, jotka haluavat pään ja korvien peitteeksi tuplakerroksen villaa kylmää viimaa vastaan. Hyve on neulottu ihanan pehmeästä yksisäikeisestä kotimaisesta villasta DK-vahvuisena. Langassa on Rva Silmusolmun upeat käsinvärjätyt sävyt. Hyve-pipossa on tasainen yläosa ja tuplakäänne alareunassa. Hyve neulotaan pyöröneuleena joko magic loop -tekniikalla, lyhyellä pyöröpuikolla tai sukkapuikoilla.

Hyve neulotaan alhaalta ylös. Silmukat luodaan tavallisella long tail cast on -tekniikalla. Pipon sisäpuoli neulotaan sileää oikeaa neuletta. Muutaman nurjan kerroksen jälkeen neulotaan helppoa kirjoneuletta kaavion mukaisesti. Kirjoneuleen nurja puoli jää piiloon, kun käänne taitetaan kaksinkerroin ja silmukat neulotaan yhteen aloitusreunan kanssa. Tästä muodostuu tukeva kaksinkertainen rakenne joka pitää Hyve-pipon ryhdissään käytön aikana. Sinun ei tar-vitse myöskään huolehtia kirjoneuleen lankajuoksuista neuleen nurjalla puolella, sillä ne jäävät piiloon.

Hyve-pipon yläosa kavennetaan jyrkästi heti käänteen jälkeen, ja se muodostuu lähes tasaiseksi. Lopuksi voit halutessasi neuloa pienen putkineulospompulan pipon päälle.
