Horse Heaven Hills Socks
A few times a month I get in my car, sometimes with my hun in tow, and make the long winding drive to Spring Harvest Mill in Eastern Washington. It’s a stunning drive through the Columbia River Gorge.
My favorite part of the ride comes just as we’ve left the river behind and start to sail through high desert.
The hills seem to roll out forever and, if you’re lucky, you can spot grazing horses amid the sagebrush. It’s the kind of wild country and big sky that makes me dream about possibilities.
These socks are made for weather and work: sport weight yarn milled a hundred paces from the alpaca herd shorn for it, an elastic knit-purl pattern that’s unisex and easily memorized. and a nice big range of
sizes.
350(375, 400) yards
7(8.5, 10) inch circumference unstretched
2(2, 2) skeins of Spring Harvest Mill sock Blend
