This hat pattern was inspired by my love of the cabled owl and the magical ideas that owls inspire. This pattern allows your imagination to run wild as you use your creativity to craft a hat that is uniquely yours. It also includes instructions for cabling without a cable needle and a tutorial to avoid having to weave in too many ends when doing stripes. Take this pattern and have a ‘hoot’ making it your own wearable work of art.

Finished Sizes and Measurements
Sizes: Preemie/Newborn (Baby, Toddler, Child, Adult Woman, Adult Man-Bulky only)

Finished Circumference:
Worsted: 12 (14.25, 16.75, 19.25, 21.5) inches
Bulky: 12 (14,16.5,18, 21, 22) inches

There are instructions given for both worsted and bulky weight yarns. Bulky uses the suggested needle size US7 and US9 needles to get 4 sts and 6 rows per inch. Worsted uses size US5 and US7 needles to get 5 sts and 7 rows per inch.

Yardage reflects the stocking cap style. If you would prefer a beanie style hat, instructions are given for that, as well, and less yarn would be used.

Hat can be knit on 16” cables for most sizes, however, smaller sizes may need to be done using magic loop or on DPNs.
