Featuring a classic elongated chevron stitch, this crib-size blanket is the perfect item to layer over the ultra-soft cotton baby blankets and toddler sheets new parents purchase in bulk. Since Romney is a longwool, it doesn’t felt easily and can withstand chewing, drooling, and epic amounts of handling. The squishy texture of this blanket makes it a great play blanket and floor mat for infants to roll around on, or for toddlers to drag everywhere they go. Even better, it will look good through all of it, developing a slightly loftier halo and softer hand over time.

I’ve also included a throw size, for a blanket that will look impressive on the edge of a couch, at the end of the bed, or even holed up in the back of your car as your emergency blanket.

Width: 31.75 (49.75)“ / 80.5 (126.5) cm
Length: 40 (70)” / 101.5 (178) cm
Measurements after blocking.

Yardage
890 (2435) yards of heavy worsted weight yarn.
If substituting another yarn, look for something that has good drape, as particularly round yarns will make for a dense blanket. If you want to use something with more bounce, you may want to attempt gauge using a DK weight yarn.

I have suggested some alternative yarns available in the pages of the book:
Julie Asselin Nurtured - Canada
De Rerum Natura Gilliatt - France
JDMS Rockwell - USA
Stone Wool Cormo - USA
