Heart Sampler Baby Afghan
This afghan is worked using two different charts: The striped heart chart and the striped checkerboard chart. You can work these charts using different colors each time to achieve the colorful sort of effect pictured here. Or, if you have a color palette for your little one’s nursery picked out, you can crochet them using your chosen color palette for more of a matching and coordinated effect.
You use the tapestry crochet technique to work this pattern. If you need to brush up on your tapestry crochet, you’re invited to check out this free tapestry crochet tutorial to see how to do it. However, in all honesty, this isn’t the best starter pattern for learning the technique if you are new to it -- because you have to carry two yarns at once. If you’re new to the technique, I recommend making an easier project first -- perhaps this checkerboard square or any of the other tapestry crochet checkerboard projects available on my website. There are lots of checkerboard-themed freebies posted, so feel free to look around a bit and find one that suits you.
After you’ve worked at least one easier project to get a good feel for the technique, you’ll be much better equipped to succeed with this more challenging project.
Happy crocheting! I really appreciate your interest in my patterns.
