Haskell is a slightly cocoon-shaped cardigan bequeathing comfort to its wearer whether lounging or knocking about through cottage garden paths. An expanse of shifting broken rib surrounds panels of beaded cables for texture that is a delight to knit in pillowy Quarry — and all the more fascinating to watch as shadows are cast over the interplay of knits and purls giving the appearance of woven tweed from afar. Trimmed by garter stitch at the hem, yoke, and shaped collar, Haskell is the epitome of a knitterly hug.
Construction
- This cardigan is worked flat in pieces from the bottom up, then sewn together. The shoulders are shaped with Short Rows: Wrap & Turn Method and joined with Joinery Bind Off.
- Garter stitch hem is picked up from the cast-on edge of the body after the side seams are joined and worked flat on a circular needle. The collar is picked up and worked flat on a circular needle after garment assembly. Short Rows: Wrap & Turn Method are used to shape the collar.
- Optional patch pockets are knit separately and sewn on.
- Circular needles are required to accommodate the large number of stitches.
