Construction
The Hairst Hap Hood begins with a Shetland “hap” style construction to work the lower triangle shapes. After binding off for the front neck and then working short row shaping, the shoulders are joined using a three needle bind off. Stitches are then picked up around the neck area to work the hood. Short row shaping is used again to shape the top part of the hood and the two halves are joined with another three needle bind off. You can choose to leave the hood as is at this point or add in a purled I-Cord bind off and ties around the front hood opening and/or a wee bit of Old Shell lace to the lower triangles on body.
