This rectangular scarf is a variation of the auld shell pattern. For many this was the pattern which Shetland knitters started with as it introduces the knitter to yarn overs and two togethers.

It is knitted in one piece from side to side rather than end to end. In this version there is an added row of long stitches to separate the rows of auld shell.

This pattern used 3 balls of yarn.
