Go gently, into that great adventure we call life. Wrap up in the comfort of something you created with your two hands. Drape yourself in love on those days when the cold breeze threatens to creep in, on a sunny day.

Never stop creating beauty with your own two hands. Go forth and treat your body, mind, and soul with comfort, love, and above all gentleness. From that place of abundance and restfulness, pour out into your community, and bring your gentleness of spirit and empathy to all that you touch.

Be the light that you are meant to be in a harsh and uncertain world.

Go gently. Go gently.*

Description

The Go Gently Cardigan was designed to be a practical layering piece for spring. Knit with a fingering weight yarn and a strand of lace weight suri alpaca held together, this cardigan will keep you warm on those breezy spring days.

This pattern is worked flat back and forth, top down in a hybrid round and raglan yoke construction with tapered sleeves and full length body. A ruffle is picked up in the yoke after the knitting of the body and sleeves for a lacy gentle detail, which blends texturally into the fuzziness of the yarn combination. The neck band and button bands are worked last at the same time as sewing down the edges of the ruffle for a neat finish.

Sizes
1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), with finished chest circumference of 39.5 (43.5, 47.5, 51.5, 55.5, 59.5, 63.5, 67.5)” / 99 (109, 119, 129, 139, 149, 159, 169) cm

Intended positive ease is 4-9.5” / 10-24 cm. Sample shown in size 2 knit to fit 34” bust with 9.5” / 23.75 cm ease for an oversized look. If a more classic fit is desired, choose a size with the lower end of ease range indicated.

If the upper bust measurement is more than 3” / 7.5 cm smaller than the full bust, suggest sizing down one size.

Construction Notes
The measurements given are for finished and seamed. There is one stitch selvedge on the front body during the entirety of pattern, as well as the sleeves.

Swatching for gauge, blocking it, measuring the gauge, then picking up a row to work the entirety of ruffle and then the button band technique is highly recommended to familiarize yourself with the pattern techniques. You may find you might want to change needle sizes for the lace if it’s not got the definition you would like.
