Glasgow Skyline
This pattern was originally designed to celebrate the Glasgow School of Yarn 2021.
The pattern includes instructions for either the hat or the cowl, depicting a geographically inaccurate representation of iconic buildings of Glasgow. There’s the City Chambers building in George Square, the Clyde Arc (AKA the Squinty Bridge), the Titan Crane, the Armadillo, the Science Centre Tower, the University Tower, and the Duke of Wellington statue, complete with cone. A Rennie Mackintosh rose and ladder motif forms the border. The cone on the Duke of Wellington can be duplicate stitched in orange and white to make it stand out.
The pattern is one-size, to fit an adult head approx. 22” circumference. The pattern is knit with two colours of Kinross 4ply and uses one hank of each colour for either the hat or the cowl version. The sample shown is knit with Black and Gorse, inspired by the old ‘Glasgow’s Miles Better’ campaign. They are knit in the round using stranded knitting. There are some long floats so please make sure you are comfortable with catching floats for this design. It uses 3mm needles for the ribbing and 3.25mm for the body.
The cowl version is made by repeating the chart twice round with ribbing at the top and the bottom, it can also be made from a single 50g hank of Kinross 4ply in each of two colours.
If you are interested in other areas of Scotland we have an Edinburgh Skyline, the Granite City, Stonehaven and Ayrshire.
