Gayest Cap for a Windy Day
Ribbed hood attached to scarf with crochet flowers worked in a broad band around the front of the hood.
Originally published in Woman’s Weekly, 1938, stating that it requires 3oz of Templetons Carrick 3-ply plus brightly coloured oddments of the same wool for the crochet flowers. The tension is 2 ridges to the inch on the ribbing, unstretched, and the hood piece should measure 8”×8” when complete with 17” of scarf on either side.
Crochet flowers are worked individually and then sewn together into a strip which is attached by crochet to the front edge of the hood. The top of the hood is sewn into shape and then attached to the centre of the scarf piece.
