My design ideas and advice: This jumper is definitely inspired by my love of vintage patterns. I love collecting vintage knitting patterns from the 1970s and beyond, the 1930s are my favourite decade. This jumper was inspired by a photograph of my mum wearing a similar jumper in the 1970s.
One of the things I love about designing simple patterns is that they look more complicated than they are. This jumper looks fitted but that is because of the stitch I used. It is knitted in rib without any shaping so the rib shapes to your body perfectly. It is also perfect for making the neck shorter and into a crew neck.
I also love to play around with the small details that make all the difference and while it’s not obvious when you first see the jumper, when you knit it you’ll know what that little small detail is! I hope it makes you smile.
It is perfect for any body (male or female) and can be made without the sleeves into a tank top (vest) if so desired.
Enjoy!
