Fossilette is a modular knit. All modules will be joined together as you go. So no seaming is involved and hardly any weaving in of ends. This time I chose a technique without I-cords. ;-) Accordingly the right side and the wrong side look different, yet they are both beautiful to wear as a top side.

You will need two contrasting yarns, preferably fingering weight, but you can just as well knit this pattern with a different yarn weight, however the amount of yarn you will need might vary.

I chose Crystal Palace Mini Mochi for the wedges (color A) and Tosh Merino Light by Madeline Tosh (color B) for the piping. Make sure that the yardage of your two yarns is almost if not completely identical. For the wedges I recommend a yarn with a color gradient, but you can just as well knit them with a variegated yarn and opt for a solid as a contrasting yarn or the other way around. You will need approximately 200g of color A and 100g of color B.

Fossilette is a no-brainer, even though it may seem intricate at first glance. After you have knitted the first three modules, you won’t have to follow any pattern and hardly count any rows. You will find the the instructions for first three modules fully written and charted. There is a table with all stitch and row counts for those of you who like to double check. You will find ample photo tutorials on all the advanced stitches and techniques at the end of the pattern.

Happy knitting
