Floret is a botanically inspired trapezoid shaped shawl/wrap that starts with a brioche leaf motif that transitions to a simple lace pattern and ends with a dramatic brioche flower edging.

This shawl that is knit from the center back out. It begins at the center back and is worked down as a triangular shawl until the depth is reached, then the two sides are split and worked separately with shaping along the edges to create each half of the wrap.

There are two versions: a 3-color tonal (or speckled) version and a 6-color gradient version.

3 color version (pink): Handmaineknits Single Ply; 415 yds / 380 m per 100 g; 100% superwash merino.
LC1 - 2 skeins in Foxglove
DC1 & LC4 - 1 skein in Marigold
DC4 - 33 g in Rosebud

gradient version (teal): Marianated Yarns Scrumptious HT; 400 yds / 366 m per 100 g; 80% superwash merino 10% cashmere 10% nylon.
LC1 – One 100 g. skein in Polar Frost
LC1, LC2, LC3, DC1, DC2, DC3 – 1 Six Pack Perfection Gradient Set in Smooth Sailing, six mini skeins at approx.133 yds / 122m (33 g) each (total of 800 yds)

Gradient colors are numbered from lightest to darkest, LC1 is the lightest, DC3 is the darkest. The full skein is the same color as the lightest color in thegradient set.

Of the gradient mini-skein set, I used the following yarn amounts:
LC-1 (lightest):28g
LC-2: 29g
LC-3: 31.5g
LC-4: 24g
LC-5: 28g
LC-6: 28g

needles Size 4 US / 3.5 mm circular needle, 32” / 80cm long. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. Gauge will affect yardage needed.

gauge 24 sts and 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm in blocked Stockinette stitch, 24 sts and 44 rows = 4” / 10 cm in brioche leaf pattern.
Changes in gauge will affect the size, appearance of stitch patterns, and the amount of yarn used.

additional yarn info The actual yardage I used to knit the pink version:
140 g/581 yds. Foxglove (LC1)
78 g/324 yds. Marigold (DC1/LC4)
31 g/129 yds. Rosebud (DC4)

The yarns I used both have superwash wool content. One is a single-ply superwash merino, the other is a springy, 2-ply superwash merino/cashmere/nylon blend with a high twist.
When choosing colors, keep in mind that the brioche pattern will stand out more if you use contrasting colors. Brioche looks great in speckled yarns, but you can also use a variegated yarn, try pairing it with a solid or subtle tonal so it really shines.
I typically prefer the lighter color to be in the foreground (LC in the pattern), and the darker color in the background (DC). because the motifs seem to stand out a little more clearly. However, reversing so that the darker color is in the foreground can work with the right contrasting colors.
