Fish-Scale Pattern
From the Chapter Description: The patterns in this section are little ones, with directions either too brief to bother charting, or too unique and specialized to bother inventing symbols for them. This sounds as though the patterns are poor relations, without any particular flair or interest to distinguish them. But such is not the case. The little patterns can display some perfectly fascinating techniques within their small multiples and few rows. They make various kinds of fancy fabrics -- textures, meshes or spot-patterns -- that are intended for use all over the garment or other knitted article.
