Figh (pronounced “Fee”) is a Gaelic word meaning weave. The design looks like a distorted woven pattern and, despite appearing to be the result of stranded knitting, is in fact formed with artfully placed slip stitches. Each row is only worked with one colour, there is no need to worry about controlling two working yarns at once, or about tension, or complicated chart reading.

Figh is an ideal pattern for using up leftover yarn, with only small amounts needed of each colour, especially in the smaller sizes.

Instructions are provided in both written and chart forms - use whichever you prefer.

Sizes:

• Baby - to fit a 40cm (16”) circumference head. Allow 15g main colour and 10g contrast colour.
• Child - to fit a 45cm (18”) circumference head. Allow 20g main colour and 15g contrast colour.
• Small - to fit a 50cm (20”) circumference head. Allow 25g main colour and 20g contrast colour.
• Medium - to fit a 55cm (22”) circumference head. Allow 30g main colour and 20g contrast colour.
• Large - to fit a 60cm (24”) circumference head. Allow 35g main colour and 25g contrast colour.

Modification instructions are included to allow you to make an size you need and to tailor the length of the hat to your liking if you prefer a slouchy version.
