Smooth fade that looks almost gradient and a recognizable X shape. That’s the main idea for the Fade X Sox. To mix and match speckled yarn and also have fun when knitting them!

All you need is five mini skeins of light sock yarn - or the same amount of left overs. The fade doesn’t have to go from black to white, you can fade the colors from yellow to red or from blue to blue or make a little rainbow on your feet. One thing is important: that the yarn is speckled. That way you can make the fade as smooth as possible. The pattern gives you instructions to fade the sock perfectly row by row.

The stitch pattern is fun and simple too. You twist the stitches to the left or right or slip them. That’s it. The heel is a wrap & turn heel with no holes, and you BO the socks invisibly.

The socks are knit from the toe up. The pattern is written for both, the magic loop method and DPN’s.

The sizing is simple: women size - feet circumference is approx. 18 cm (7¼”) and cuff 20 cm (8”). The length and the width of the sock is easily adjustable just for your size.

The pattern is written for lighter sock yarn (425 m / 100 g, 460 yd / 3,5 oz). If you’re using mini skeins and not left overs, the yardage is crucial on Color C (the heel color). That’s why it’s important to stay on gauge or have some extra yarn.
