Love shawls, but hate styling them, or ever worry they’re going to fall off? This accessory is the answer! It looks just you’re wearing a cozy triangular shawl, but actually involves a clever cowl shape. This project is quick to knit using worsted weight yarn, and will keep you interested with fun knit, purl and popcorn stitch textures!

SIZE
Approximately 54cm (21 ¼”) neck circumference and 42cm (16 ½”) deep at centre spine, relaxed after blocking.

YARN
Brooklyn Tweed Shelter (100% Targhee-Columbia Wool; 128m {140yds}/50g), 2 skeins Soot colourway, or 100–150g worsted weight yarn. Sample used approximately 83g (212m {232yds}). Please note that Brooklyn Tweed Shelter is a lofty woollen spun base – if you are substituting a different style of worsted weight yarn, your cowl size, yardage requirements and fabric drape are likely to vary. Test knit projects that used heavier style worsted weight bases required closer to 130g and 275m (300yds) of yarn. DK weight yarns can also be substituted if they give an appropriate gauge.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
5mm (US 8) circular needle, or size to obtain gauge (80–100cm {32–40”} cable length recommended)
4 stitch markers

Tape measure
Scissors
Row counter (optional)

GAUGE
16 stitches x 28 rows = 10cm (4”) in stockinette stitch, knit flat and relaxed after blocking.

Stockinette stitch = knit every right side row, purl every wrong side row.
