A seamless tortoise-neck jumper named after a lovely Roald Dahl novel, Esio Trot is a cosy, casual and fun to knit garment.

Pattern has been updated to include finished garment chest circumference of 150, 159 and 170cm/59, 62.5 and 67”

Worked with two yarns held together, a fingering merino and a mohair silk, it is reversible with the option of having stockinette or reverse stockinette stitch as the main texture. It can also be worked in an 8 ply yarn, as the gauge is typical of that weight.

The modified drop shoulder and short rows sleeve caps bring a better fit to the jumper, without too much fabric bulk in the underarm areas.

The jumper is worked bottom up, starting with the ribbed pieces worked flat, separately. Then work continues in the round up to the armholes, front and back pieces are completed, and after working some short rows for the sloped shoulders, bound off using a three-needle bind off.
Sleeve stitches are picked up and sleeves are worked in the round, towards the cuffs.

The pattern gives options of turtleneck or crewneck finishes, as seen in the blue version.
