Elk Point Vest
A v-neck colorwork vest in fair isle motifs.
The vest is worked in round from bottom up. Steeking along the armholes and v-neck before picking up stitches for ribbing finishing.
Sizes 30 (34, 39, 43, 47, 51, 56), sizes are based on chest measurements of finished garment in inches. 0 to 2” / 0 – 5 cm positive ease is recommended. Sample is shown with 1” / 2.5 cm positive ease.
Yarn Fingering weight yarn, sample used Elann Sock It to Me. (Although it is a discontinued yarn, it can easily be substituted with wool yarn of fingering weight that yeid same gauge.)
yarn A (Natural) – 540 (620, 700, 790, 880, 980, 1060) yards / 495 (565, 640, 725, 805, 895, 970) meters
yarn B (dark brown), yarn C (light brown), yarn D (light teal), yarn E (dark purple), yarn F (medium purple), yarn G (light purle) – 140 (160, 185, 210, 240, 265, 290) yards for each yarn / 130 (145, 170, 195, 220, 245, 265) meters for each yarn
Needles US #2 / 2.75 mm, or change needle to obtain gauge
Gauge 30 sts x 32 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm in stranded colorwork after blocking.
Design Simple V neck vest with fairisle motifs.
Construction
- The vest is knitted in round from bottom up.
- Decrease stitches for armholes and V neck.
- Cut Steeks.
- Join shoulders using 3-needle-bind off method.
- Pick up stitches around neck and armhole for 2x2 ribbing.

- Make decreases (k2tog, ssk, s2kp, s2pp.)
- Read colorwork chart.
- Work 2-colors stranded colorwork for each row.
