SKILLS
To knit this capelet you need to know how to cast
on stitches with any method, although the long tail
cast-on is recommended, to knit, purl, and work in the
round, to be familiar with the stranded colourwork
technique, to work following charted instructions, to
make increases with the “make one away” technique
(the one most commonly used to cast on stitches at
the underarm, also known as the backwards loop
method), to pick up stitches, and to bind off stitches.
It is essential to be able to follow charted instructions,
as they are used for the colourwork detail of the body
of the cowl and written instructions are not provided.
An option to elevate the back using short rows at the
neckline is included in the pattern.
CONSTRUCTION
This capelet is knit top-down, i.e. it is started to knit at
the neckline, if desired, short rows are used to elevate
the back, then you will continue to knit the yoke in the
round. It is worked seamlessly, all in one piece. It is
worked in stockinette stitch with a colourwork section
at the bottom.
GAUGE
22 stitches and 32 rounds in 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in
stockinette stitch, without blocking.
25 stitches and 28 rounds in 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in
colourwork motif, without blocking.
24 stitches and 25 rounds in 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in
colourwork motif, after blocking.
YARN
2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 4) skeins in Colour 1 (main colour), 1
skein in Colour 2 for all sizes, and 1 skein in Colour 3
for all sizes (contrast colours) of DK Twist by Life in
the Long Grass (100% Superwash Merino; 230 m /
100 g; 251 yd / 3.52 oz).
The colourways used are Cayenne as Colour 1,
Mountain Path as Colour 2 and Oyster as Colour
3 for the pink version; and Oyster as Colour 1, Barn
as Colour 2 and Mountain Path as Colour 3 for the
grey version.
NEEDLES
4 mm US 6 circular needles, or the required needle
size to obtain gauge, with a cable length of 40 cm
16” for the neckline and longer for the body.
OTHER NOTIONS
1 stitch marker for the beginning of the round. Tapestry
needle to weave in ends.

Choose a size for your capelet depending on your
bust circumference as described above, as the capelet’s
circumference is quite bigger to accommodate your upper arm circumference too.

NOCIONES PREVIAS
Para tejer esta capelina es necesario saber tejer punto
del derecho, del revés, montar puntos mediante cualquier
método, aunque se recomienda el de la hebra
larga, cerrar puntos, hacer aumentos al aire, remontar
puntos, tejer en circular, conocer la técnica del colourwork
y saber leer gráficos. Es imprescindible saber
leer gráficos de colourwork, ya que las instrucciones
para tejer con el detalle en colourwork de la capelina
se dan únicamente en forma de gráfico.
Se incluye la opción de incluir vueltas cortas alemanas
en el cuello para elevar la espalda.
CONSTRUCCIÓN
Esta capelina tiene una construcción top-down, es
decir, se empieza tejiendo por el escote, si se desea, se
realizan unas vueltas cortas para elevar la espalda, y
se continúa por el canesú, tejiendo en circular. Se realiza
de una sola pieza, sin ninguna costura. Se teje en
punto jersey del derecho, con detalles de colourwork.

22 puntos y 32 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10
cm 4 x 4” en punto jersey, sin bloquear.
25 puntos y 28 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10
cm 4 x 4” en el motivo de la capelina, sin bloquear.

10 cm 4 x 4” en el motivo de la capelina, después
de bloquear.

2 (2, 3, 3, 3, 4) madejas en color 1 (color principal),
1 en color 2 para todas las tallas, y 1 en color 3 para
todas las tallas (colores de contraste) de DK Twist de
Life in the Long Grass (100% merino superwash;
230 m / 100 g; 251 yd / 3.52 oz).
Los colores utilizados son el Cayenne como color 1, el
Mountain Path como color 2 y el Oyster como color 3
para la versión rosa, y el Oyster como color 1, el Barn

la version gris.

Agujas circulares de 4 mm US 6 o las necesarias
para obtener la muestra de tensión, con cable de 40
cm 16” para el escote y más largo para el cuerpo.

Elige la talla de tu capelina en función de tu contorno
de pecho, ya que el contorno de la capelina es
