Dryocampa is a perky, textured hat perfect for a one-off skein of pretty handdyed DK — or those two balls of double-knitting you have in your stash.

Although the texture looks involved, this is a gentle knit suitable for long train journeys or a day in the garden. The lace stitch is a variation upon the Shetland horseshoe pattern and I paired it with an inuitive Japanese slip-stitch cable that you will love.

The pom pom is optional, but pom poms make everything more fun and wearable.

The hat is named after the colourful (and non-wool harming!) rosy maple moth which is native to North America.

This pattern is fully written with both charts and written instructions, and is suitable for advanced beginners and up.

The hat is seamless and is worked in the round.

Finished Measurements (without pom pom): 44 (49, 56)cm/17.25” (19.25”, 22”) circumference and 25/9.75” height.
