Who doesn’t want to be a Dragonrider?

These beautifully scaled socks are bound to not only delight the wearer but affirm their membership into the secret society of Dragonriders. I’ve managed to induct a few new members into the Dragonriders by knitting them a pair of these socks. Who will you bring into the fold?

Worked in the round, Dragonrider contains both cuff-down and toe-up written directions and a chart for the pattern stitch. The pattern has instructions for an afterthought heel, but you may substitute whatever heel you enjoy using.

The pattern is written for the magic loop method for knitting socks; however, the design could be worked on double-pointed needles or mini-circulars instead should you prefer.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
(Measured around the ball of the foot.)
7.5 (8, 8.5, 9)” / 19 (20.5, 21.5, 23) cm circumference. The sample shown was knit using the toe-up version of this pattern on 64-sts.

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
US1 (2.25 mm) 32-40” (82-102 cm) circular needles, or size required to obtain gauge.

300-500 yds / 274-458 m fingering weight yarn (depending on the length of your foot and leg)

GAUGE
9 stitches by 11 rounds in stockinette = 1” / 2.5 cm, after blocking. Gauge is crucial in obtaining the correct fit. Changes in gauge will result in a size difference for your finished socks.

LOW-VISIBILITY & SCREEN READER FORMAT
A low-visibility and a screen-reader accessible version of this pattern are available for the pattern’s English version. The low-visibility format is 24pt print in Arial, black font, no italics, and contains written directions (there are no charts to work from). The screen reader format has all the items mentioned above, contains no abbreviations, and accessibility checked by read-aloud function on both a Windows PC and Android device.
